Everybody has been airing their opinions about this subject and no specific conclusion has been reached about whether it should be practiced or not. But people have been debating about it from a scientific point of view where they have analyzing the pros and cons of masturbating. The subject has not been viewed from a spiritual perspective. Giving it a spiritual view can help in resting the hotly contested debate of whether masturbation is good or bad. What is Masturbation?

Before determining whether it is a sin or not, it is of great importance to first understand the true meaning of masturbation. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, masturbation has been defined as erotic stimulation especially of one’s own genital organs commonly resulting in orgasm. The dictionary did not go further to explain whether it is a sin or not, that has been left for people to reason out.

What does the Bible Say About Masturbation?

The Bible or any spiritual book has been very silent about directly talking about masturbation. The Bible, specifically, has talked about different sexual acts but boldly letting out masturbation. However, there are very clear indications about the Bible’s view about it. The indications given out in the Bible, which will be discussed below here, clear show that masturbation is a bad act one should avoid it.

Why Masturbation is considered a Sin?

Though the Bible has not singled out masturbate, but still there are clear indications that the Bible views it as a bad. These supporting claims as written in the Bible and Geeta are discussed below here.

  • Body as the Temple of God : The Bible clear states that the body is the temple of God. This means that one should not dirty the temple of God lest he/she is ready to be called a sinner. Masturbation is leads to one making his/her body dirty and therefore considered as a sin before God. Reference to this claim can be found in 1st Corinthians 6:19-20.
  • Burning in Passion : The single and unmarried have been advised to marry of they cannot exercise self-control. The Bible is guarding them against burning in passion. Masturbation is such a passion that can lead a person to burn. The reference of this claim is found in the book of 1st Corinthians 7:8-9.
  • Masturbation as Adultery : For a man to masturbate there has to be lust for a woman. And the Bible is very clear against looking at a woman with lustful thoughts. This is a sin in the eyes of God. This claim is referenced in the book of Mathew 5:28.
  • It is an Immorality : Since masturbation is an impurity, it is considered a sexual immorality which has been termed as a sin in the book of Ephesians 5:3.
  • Disobedience to God: When one is masturbating, he/she directly disobeys God’s command of cleansing the body from any defilement. This is in the book of 2nd Corinthians 7:1.

  1. All this is accurate. Though, masturbating is ok when done in the correct manner. I don’t need to go into that. Here is my main point. Porn is everywhere. Movies, television, advertisements…heck, if you happen to walk past the bra isle at a store. You will see porn. This is the 21st century!! Masturebation needs too be done! In order too keep your brain in check. Sure you can fast and pray too stay pure. Here’s the thing though. The Women of this time. They dress pervertedly. I.e yoga pants. Enough said. The Lord understands our natural flaw. Our instinct for intercourse is animalistic in nature. An instinct. I’ve gone too war about it.
