We get things wrong. Products get reformulated, prices move, a measurement gets written down badly, a verdict turns out not to survive contact with more users. This page explains what happens then.
Reporting something
Use the contact form or reply in the comments on the page in question. Useful reports include what you think is wrong and, where you have it, what you think is right. We take reader reports seriously even when they contradict our own testing, because a single test team is a small sample.
What we do
Factual errors — a wrong measurement, a wrong price, a dead link, a misattributed product — are fixed as soon as we confirm them, and the page’s “last verified” date is updated.
Where a correction changes the substance of a review, we say so on the page rather than editing quietly. A verdict that moved should be visible as a verdict that moved.
Where we disagree with a report, we will tell you why rather than ignoring it.
Products that change
Manufacturers reformulate materials and revise textures without renaming products, which means an accurate review can become an inaccurate one without anybody touching it. When we learn a product has changed, we either retest it or mark the review as applying to a specific production period. We do not leave a stale review sitting there because it ranks well.
Retracted reviews
If a review turns out to be unsound — insufficient testing, a fault in our process, a conflict we should have disclosed — we retract it and leave a note at the URL explaining why. We do not delete pages to make problems disappear.
